How we keep your data safe, in plain English
You're trusting Billex with real financial information — your bank details, tax numbers, and your customers' details. Here's exactly what we do to protect it, without the jargon.
Your password isn't stored anywhere
We never save the actual password you type. Instead, the moment you set one, it's run through a one-way scrambler that turns it into meaningless gibberish before it's saved. There's no way to reverse that — not even we can look up your password. When you log in, we scramble what you typed the same way and check the gibberish matches.
Your bank details and tax numbers are locked
Your bank sort code, account number, National Insurance number, and UTR number are encrypted before they're saved — meaning they're scrambled with a secret key that only Billex's servers hold. If someone somehow got a copy of the database itself, those fields would look like random noise, not usable numbers. They're only ever unscrambled for a split second, on your screen, when you (the account owner) actually need to see them.
We lock the door after too many wrong guesses
If someone tries to guess your password over and over, or spams the "email me a sign-in link" button, we automatically shut that down after a handful of tries and make them wait. It's the same idea as a phone locking you out after too many wrong PIN attempts.
The website itself is locked down
Every page is sent over a locked, encrypted connection (the padlock in your browser bar), so nobody sitting on the same wifi or network can peek at what you're doing. We've also switched on browser-level protections that stop malicious sites from impersonating Billex or embedding it inside a fake page to trick you.
We never see your card number
Payments are handled entirely by Stripe, a specialist payment company used by millions of businesses. Your card details go straight to them — they never touch our servers at all.
It's your data — take it or delete it, any time
You can download a complete copy of everything we hold about you and your business whenever you like, and you can permanently delete your account and every invoice, quote, customer, and expense in it whenever you like too, no need to ask us. Both options live in Settings → Account.
Nothing keeps data 100% safe forever — anyone who tells you otherwise is lying to you. What we can promise is that we've done the things a careful business is supposed to do, and that we're not careless with what you've trusted us with. If you ever spot something that worries you, or just want to ask a question, email us at nexorasalessupport@gmail.com — we'd genuinely rather hear about it than have you wonder.
